About
About Me
My name is Jeff Gran and I am an artist, designer, and programmer. I am currently attending school at the University of Denver, pursuing a Master of Applied Science degree in web development. I used to me more of an artist, but I had a revelation in which I finally figured out what I want to be when I grow up: a programmer.
About My Qualifications
I have written HTML off and on for 10 years. I’ve developed web sites from scratch as well as installing, upgrading and customizing open source content management systems such as Mambo, Joomla, and Wordpress. I have written plugins for Mambo, and I have developed several custom themes, widgets, and other advanced functionality for Wordpress using Standards-based XHTML, CSS, and PHP. I understand advanced CSS layout techniques. I also have a bachelor’s degree in computer art and have been working with Photoshop and other Adobe products for years. I consider myself to be an expert in Photoshop. I understand the basics of Javascript. I have basic familiarity with Flash technology. I’ve always learned new things quickly, probably in no small part because I love learning new things.
What I’m doing
I am doing freelance WordPress (and other) development, attending school for web development, reading books on web development, and trolling job listings looking for a way to get my foot in the door to the industry.
My Goal
My goal is to become a recognized “rock star” developer. I aspire to be the type of guy that gets called in when a difficult problem needs to be solved. I thrive on challenges. I don’t believe there’s such a thing as “it can’t be done” — it’s a matter of how. And I like figuring out how.
